Review

Epson came up with a new series of printers in the EcoTank range. These EcoTank printers ensure that it brings a heat-free and cartridge-free environment to play a lesser role in the environmental impact.

The new printers are mainly to enhance creativity among photographers. The entry-level printers are for home office use and they are the Epson ET 5150 and Epson ET 5170 printers. Both ET 5150 and ET 5170 printers are common in terms of features.

While one of the EcoTank printers features Epson's Micro Piezo Heat Free Technology, the other EcoTank printer has the PrecisionCore Heat-Free technology that helps to reduce the heat generated while printing. Epson printers claim that the technology makes it more environmentally friendly compared to the other EcoTank printers since they need lesser energy to work on.

The Environmental campaign was to ensure that Epson plays a part in the world's take on global warming. With the campaign called Turn Down the Heat, Epson tackles global warming on a larger scale by encouraging people to take up energy-saving printers for their home offices and how it will help to reduce it. According to Epson, both the EcoTank printers offer cartridge-free printing with the help of user-friendly ink bottles. The biggest benefit is that there is less fuzz about the cartridge changing and they can easily produce more pages with a single set of ink bottles.

Both Epson ET 5150 and Epson ET 5170 printers can print 2,300 photos or close to 7,000 prints in black and white with one set of ink bottles. One major thing you will notice when you compare both printers is that the Epson ET 5170 printer supports faxing while the Epson ET 5150 printer does not support it.
