Preparing the printer for the setup

• Unpack your HP printer if you haven’t done it yet.
• To do so, remove the packing tapes, materials, and cardboard pieces from the inside and outside of the printer.
• Ensure that the packing component present in the cartridge access area is removed carefully without touching the film.
• Place the unpacked printer closer to a power outlet and go to the next step of the setup process.

Turning on the printer

• Switch on your prepared printer to begin the setup process.
• To do so, connect the printer to an active power outlet using the power cord shipped along with the product box.
• Now, your printer will turn on automatically.
• Once the printer completes its initial boot-up process, select the desired device language from the list of options.
• After selecting it, choose Yes.
• Similarly, configure the other settings of your printer by following the prompts displayed on the screen.

Loading paper

• Pull out the input tray.
• Move the guides to the extreme ends.
• Now, load the desired paper type (selected from the recommended media type) with its printable side facing down into the tray.
• Ensure that the paper is not overloaded.
• Adjust the guides against the paper and push the tray forward.
• Extend the output tray of your printer.

Installing the ink cartridges

• Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door followed by the cartridge lids.
• Unpack the genuine HP ink cartridges that are shipped along with the printer.
• Insert the tri-color cartridge of your printer into the left slot and the black cartridge into the right slot.
• Close the access door of your printer.
• Now, your printer will automatically print an alignment page.
• If the printer fails to print the page, open the Setup screen and select the Tools menu followed by Align Printer.
• Place the alignment page (printed by the printer) on the scanner glass with its print-side facing down and tap OK.
• Scan the alignment page to align the ink cartridges.

Installing the printer software

• Run the HP Envy 4520 full feature software file on your computer from the setup CD or the downloaded driver folder.
• Select and install the necessary printer drivers on your computer when prompted.
• Similarly, choose the desired connection type when prompted.

• Insert the unpacked cartridges into their slots.
• Check to ensure that the black cartridges are installed in the right slot and the tri-color in the left slot.
• Close the lids followed by the access door.
• Press OK on your printer’s control panel to begin the alignment process.
• The alignment page will be printed automatically by the printer.
• If the printer doesn’t print the page automatically, perform it manually. To do so:
• Open Setup.
• Select the Printer Maintenance option.
• Tap Align Printer.
• Once the page is printed by the printer, place it on the scanner glass.
• Ensure that the print-side of the page is facing down on the scanner glass.
• Tap OK again to complete the alignment process.

Installing the printer software

• Install the HP Envy 5660 printer software on your computer to complete the setup.
• To do so, use the setup CD or the downloaded driver folder.
• Install the software by following the prompts displayed on the screen.
