01. HP ENVY 6010 INSTALLATION

A quick and simple way to unbox and set up your HP Envy 6010 printer

Unpacking your HP Envy 6010 printer

If you’re going to set up your new HP Envy 6010 printer for the first time, then begin with unpacking. Skip the instructions below if you have already unpacked your printer and it is ready for setup.

Take your HP Envy 6010 printer out of its package.
Place the printer on a neat surface.
Gently take off all the packing tapes, cardboard pieces, and other packing materials from your printer.
After unpacking your printer completely, go to the next step of the setup.
Make sure to recycle the packing materials properly.

Turning on the printer

The next step of the setup process is to turn on your HP printer. To do so, simply connect the printer to the wall outlet.

Get the printer’s power cord that is shipped along with the product box.
Plug the cord’s one (small) end to your printer and the other (big) end to the outlet. (Note: Connect the cord directly to the outlet instead of using a surge protector for the connectivity).
As soon as you connect the cord to the outlet, the printer turns on automatically.
Once the purple light shows up on your printer, you can go to the next step of the setup.

Note: You can load paper and install the ink cartridges when performing the printer hardware setup or installing the printer software (when prompted).

Loading paper

Pull out the paper tray.
Using both your hands, move the width guides of the tray to the ends.
Now, fan a stack of paper and load it into the tray.
Before pushing the tray towards the printer, ensure the width guides are adjusted properly.

Note: Use only the paper type that is recommended by the printer manufacturer.

Installing the ink cartridges

Raise the ink cartridge access door of your printer.
Now, get the HP genuine ink cartridges that are provided along with the printer during the purchase.
Unpack the cartridges and remove the orange tapes from them.
Install the unpacked cartridges into their slots. (Note: install the tri-color cartridge on the left-hand side of the slot and the black one on the right-hand side of the slot.)
Close the door.
In case you have installed the ink cartridges when prompted during the driver installation, return to the installation wizard and click the Continue button.
Print the alignment page by following the instructions displayed on the screen.
Similarly, if you have installed the cartridges as part of the printer hardware setup, then align the cartridges after installing the printer software on your computer.

Aligning the print cartridge

Open the HP printer software on your computer.
Go to the Print & Scan tab.
Select Maintain Your Printer > Devices Services > Align Cartridges.
Complete the alignment process by following the instructions displayed on the screen.

Installing the HP printer software

Based on your OS type, the available HP Envy 6010 printer driver may vary. If your OS type is Windows 10, 8, or Mac, download and install the HP Smart app on it. Similarly, if your OS type is Windows 7, then download the HP Easy Start software and install it on your computer.

Unpacking the printer

Before going into the printer’s hardware or physical setup, make sure to unpack it completely.
To do so, first, take the printer from the box.
Remove the printer from the plastic cover and place it on a table.
Now, unpack your printer completely by removing all the packing tapes, cardboard pieces and other materials present inside and outside it.
After unpacking your printer, place it closer to an electrical outlet and go to the next step of the setup.

Turning on the printer

Connect your HP Envy 6020 printer to a wall outlet using the supplied power cord.
Now, your printer turns on automatically.
Wait until the light switches to purple.
Once the light turns on purple, begin the software installation on your computer.

Running the printer software

The instructions below explain the HP Envy 6020 printer installation using the HP Smart app.

Install the HP Smart app on your computer.
Click on the Launch button.
Now, the Welcome screen of the HP Smart app will open; click Continue on it.
If you wish to share your usage data with HP Smart, click Yes. Otherwise, click No and go to the next step of the installation.
Now, the HP Smart app will try to detect the HP printer that is in Setup mode or connected to the same network as your computer.
When you turn on the printer for the first time, the Setup mode is enabled automatically on it. This mode lasts on your printer for two hours.
After two hours, you can activate (if necessary) the setup mode again by resetting the network settings of the printer.
Once the setup mode is enabled again, follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.
When prompted, click on the Set up a new printer button.
Choose your HP printer and click Setup > Continue > Continue.
Complete the printer installation process by following the rest of the instructions displayed on the screen.
Once the software installation is completed, you will be prompted to load paper and install the ink cartridge into the printer.

Loading paper

Slide out the paper tray.
Move the width guides to the ends.
Fan and load the paper in the tray.
Push in the tray towards the printer.
Now, return to the HP Smart installation wizard on your computer and click the Continue button.

Installing the HP Ink Cartridges

Lift the cartridge access door.
Take the cartridges from their packages.
Remove the orange tape from the cartridges and install them in their slots.
Close the cartridge access door.
Click Continue in the “Ink Installed!” dialog box.

Aligning the print cartridges

As soon as the ink cartridges are installed, a dialog box prompting you to align the cartridges will appear over the installation window.
Click Continue.
Now, your printer will start to print the alignment page.
Once it is printed, scan it using your printer’s scanner glass to finish the alignment process.

Resetting the network settings

Locate the Wi-Fi button on your printer’s control panel.
Now, hold down the located button for five seconds and release it. Now you have completed the hp envy 6020 setup
